Students who completed 15years have received 1st dose of the Covid-19 vaccine in the school premises on the 1st day of the vaccination drive for children.COVID-19 vaccines are safe, effective, and free.
Colours week was celebrated during the first week of November. The motivation behind celebrating this week was to make the children aware of the different colours and their significance. Early identification of colours helps in creating a cognitive link between colours, clues and words. Classes were decorated with balloons, ribbons, flowers and charts and children came to school dressed up in corresponding colours. An amazing learning experience was created through practical learning.
Science exhibition “indomitable spirit" was conducted on 8 February 2020 .All the exhibits were testimony to the immense application oriented knowledge the students gained in the classroom .These kind of exhibitions are the first step for them to showcase their talents at various state and national level exhibitions.
The 2nd Annual Sports Day was celebrated. The Chief Guest Mr. George Abraham (Secretary and Principal of YMCA) insisted that sports and games are as much an important part as studies and students should not ignore sports and games. The performance of our school children is a testimony to his message.
Drama
Dramatic arts education is an important means of stimulating creativity in problem-solving. Teachers displayed expressions of different emotions in different situations which enabled the children to awaken dramatic skills in them. Dramatics is given lots of importance as we understand that it can be therapeutic.
A “Fireless cooking contest” was conducted for students from Grade 3 to Grade 5 at our premises. Our students prepared yummy lip-smacking items like sevpuri, a variety of sandwiches, strawberry fantasy, biscuit treats and dry fruits laddu, thereby proving their versatility in cooking even without fire!
Annual day celebration is an integral part of our school activities. It is a wonderful occasion for the students and teachers to present their performances and receive honours for their achievements. The latest cultural event of Zion International Public School was held on 21st February 2020. The theme of the event was UBUNTU, "I am, because you are". The main idea of the theme was to teach the children to learn to be humane. The chief guest, Dr. Uma Sivaraman M.A., M. Ed., PDGTE, Ph.D., Consultant, Centre of Excellence, CBSE R.O, Chennai, Retired Deputy Commissioner, graced the occasion and in her inaugural address, she articulated the good values to be imbibed through quality education.
The school reverberated with the melody of Christmas carols as the students organized a Christmas Special Assembly that day. A play was enacted explaining the importance of the festival which was followed by the rendition of a Christmas song. The beautiful assembly became energized when Santa visited the students and had fun with them. These kinds of activities help the children to understand the significance of festivals in different religions.
Theatre program helps children explore, exhibit and enjoy. It improves verbal and non-verbal communication. Most importantly, children develop listening and observation skills. The training was given by the teachers to the kindergarten children to enact the usage of prepositions. This activity benefited the children to actively participate during classroom sessions.
Mock Parliament is an educational tool to promote understanding of the working of government in a democracy. A Mock Parliament was held in the auditorium during October 2019.
The enthusiastic participation of the students left everyone spellbound. All the proceedings related to the functioning of the parliament were incorporated during the mock session. The students, as parliamentarians, exhibited their knowledge about the benefits and concerns on certain crucial social, educational and economic issues, through debates and discussions with great knowledge and passion.
The 7th International Yoga Day was celebrated virtually in Zion International Public School on 21st of June 2021. The theme of the International Yoga Day was 'Yoga for wellness', a motto aligned to the current pre-occupations. Wishing you a lifetime of wellness and goodness on the occasion of Yoga Day!
